Mike Hunchback

Mike Hunchback is a horror culture enthusiast and writer on a varied range of hair-raising ephemera. Years of creating weird fiction fanzines and blogging about the microcosm of lesser-celebrated pulp/weird fiction artists who illustrated Weird Tales and other mags grew into the book Pulp Macabre: The Art of Lee Brown Coye’s Final and Darkest Era (Feral House / Sacred Bones, 2015), co-created with Calab Braaten. Hunchback has been involved in independent film programming and hosting at various theaters in NY and NJ. Some memorable efforts include: the Frank Henenlotter Retrospective, “That’s Sexploitation!” Something Weird Video series, “The Godfather of Gore” H.G. Lewis series (all at Anthology Film Archives); the Joe Bob Briggs Presents series at Alamo Drafthouse Yonkers; and several screenings with legendary cult film director Roberta Findlay, done in collaboration with filmmaker William Hellfire, with whom Hunchback co-wrote the low budget Christian-scare/possession shock-drama UPSIDEDOWN CROSS (2014). In 2017 he joined the writing staff of the recently-relaunched DEEP RED Magazine.
